Pop-up cards, papercut cards, and paper tags
I love designing pop-up cards because they better reflect the world around us and draw on both my technical and artistic sides. I grew up around cut flower arrangements and oil paintings that were lovely and captivating, food that was too pretty to dig into, and fun activities like sketching portraits and making origami animals. However, I didn't pursue art. I spent many years designing biotechnology products, never really exercising my artistic side.
In 2010, I started using drafting software for architectural card design and learned how to use graphic design software to create colorful, realistic images. Soon, I was hooked and CardNotions was born--a shop for unique pop-up cards, wood-cut jewelry/crafting supplies and ornaments. In April of 2014, I spun off my woodcut ornaments, home decor and jewelry supplies into a new shop dedicated to these types of products-- www.WoodNotions.etsy.com -- so that I could focus CardNotions on architectural paper products
My cards are made from a high quality double-sided print, card-stock. It is strong and resilient, and sure to hold up through mailing and repeated opening and closing, displaying, etc.
All of my art and designs are original, and I make everything myself. My fabrication process is very flexible allowing me to modify my artwork, sentiments and cutting on any item I make. CardNotions will always be a work in progress, growing and morphing in fits and starts, as long as there are new challenges.
