A Reverence for Wood
Even though my entire career has been spent in the corporate world, sitting behind a desk, I have always had a reverence for wood. To me, trees have a sacred and spiritual dimension to them. I believe the grain of the wood is a manifestation of the soul of the tree. Humans have always used wood to create objects both practical and magnificent. I am following in that tradition. Since my retirement, my days are spent in my workshop/studio. I am a wood carver and wood artist.
I have two shop sites on Etsy. The first is called Cast with Wood. In this shop I offer a variety of wooden items that I have personally hand crafted in my workshop. Most of what I offer are boxes made from wood with unique grain patterns.
My second shop site is called the Firebird Cigar Box Transformation Studio (or Firebird Box Studio for short.) This shop is strictly devoted to re-purposed wooden cigar boxes. I use carving, pyrography, decoupage and tinting to give these old boxes a new life. Boxes that once held cigars now can proudly be used for trinkets and treasures, for keepsakes and collections, for jewelry and junk. Take a look.
