Ich habe meinen Shop auf Etsy im Jahr 2010 eröffnet, nachdem ich große und kleine Möbelstücke von Grund auf und aus recycelten Teilen entworfen und gebaut hatte. Ich habe viele Jahre lang auch Ladenauslagen und Schaufenster gestaltet. Ich suchte nach einem kreativen Outlet, um meine Assemblage-Kunst und kleinere Stücke zu verkaufen, also eröffnete ich CastawaysHall & The Sea of ODD. Ich habe immer versucht, Dinge zu schaffen, die sich von allen anderen unterscheiden. Ich liebe alles, was mit dem Meer, dem Strand, Muscheln, Kuriositäten im Inselstil oder der Farbe Türkis zu tun hat, also wusste ich sofort, wie das Thema meines Ladens aussehen würde. Eine meiner Lieblingsbeschäftigungen ist es, aus etwas Altem etwas Neues zu machen. Nehmen Sie seltsame, ungewöhnliche Gegenstände und Kleinteile und fügen Sie sie zu einem Kunstwerk zusammen. Sie können das an meinem Meer aus seltsamen Kreaturen in meinem Shop und den Sander-Gemälden sehen, die ich auf alten Türen und Holz mache. Ich liebe auch Vintage. Normalerweise arbeite ich an etwa 10 verschiedenen Projekten gleichzeitig und auf meinen Arbeitstischen herrscht ständig Chaos, aber mir ist klar, dass ich am besten in einem Chaos arbeite. Das wird sich wahrscheinlich nie ändern. Meine Arbeit entwickelt sich ständig weiter. Schauen Sie also regelmäßig vorbei, um etwas Neues zu entdecken.

Als Künstler, kleines Unternehmen und aus Fairness gegenüber allen meinen bisherigen Kunden habe ich es mir zur Richtlinie gemacht, meine Arbeiten nicht zu rabattieren oder zu verkaufen. Ich versuche, für alle meine Arbeiten zunächst einen guten Preis festzulegen, wenn man den langwierigen Prozess vom Entwurf über die Produktion, die Suche und Kuratierung bis hin zum Verpacken der Materialien und zum Versand bedenkt. Der Versand ist immer höher als der Betrag, den ich dem Kunden berechne. Daher zahle ich die Differenz selbst zum tatsächlichen Zeitpunkt des Versands, sodass Sie dort sparen.

I started my shop on Etsy in 2010 after designing and building large and small furniture pieces from the bottom up and recycled pieces. I also did store displays and windows for many years. I wanted a creative outlet to sell my assemblage art and smaller pieces so I opened up CastawaysHall & The Sea of ODD. I've always tried create things that are different from everyone else. I love anything that has to do with the ocean, beach, seashells, island style oddities, or turquoise in colour so I knew what my store theme was going to be right away. One of my favourite things to do is to take something old and making it into something new. Taking odd, unusual objects and bits and pieces of hardware and assembling them into a work of art. You can see that in my Sea of ODD creatures in my shop and the sander paintings that I do on old doors and wood. I also love vintage. I usually have about 10 different projects on the go at once and my work tables are alway in chaos, but I realize that I work best in a mess. That will probably never change. My work is always evolving so check back often to find some new.

As an artist, small business and in fairness to all of my previous customers, I have made it a policy not to discount my work or do sales. I try to price all of my work well to start with, considering the lengthy process from design to production, hunting and curating to packing supplies and shipping. Shipping is always more than the amount I charge to the customer, so I pay the difference myself at the actual time of shipping, so you save there.
