About

Clothing for people who love glitter and sweat

Cat Bacon Creative is my circus & alternative athletic apparel line. It is a combination of my varied skills -- my mathematical surface pattern designs, my artistic fabric dyeing and printmaking, my love of aerial and circus arts -- all combined into high quality athletic wear and accessories.

"Alternative to what?" Ellen Page would ask.

My target markets are aerialists, pole dancers, burlesque performers, and roller derby chicks. Basically if you're a gal whose sport involves bruises and glitter, these clothes are for you. Of course, if you just like patterns and fashion, you're welcome to shop here too :)

A little about my brand and its values:

CIRCUS, POLE, BURLESQUE & DERBY

I picked circus and pole apparel because it is a way to combine my athletic and artistic hobbies. I'd already created my own custom costumes for performances, and I wanted to share my designs with the people in my community. My circus and pole classmates are really a second family to me. Also I am a huge fan of roller derby and admire the glitter, leggings, and physicality of this alternative sport.

HUSTLE

Work brings me tremendous pleasure, and nothing great was ever made without a little sweat. My day job is writing backend software, and in my evenings and weekends, when I'm not training in circus arts and pole dance, I love making things with my hands.

FEMINISM

Unapologetic, pro-woman, and inspired by all the amazing women around me. Yes I'll also stock some menswear. Feminism lifts us all up!

BODY POSITIVITY

I love the radical self acceptance of burlesque dancers who just get on stage and don't apologize for being themselves. I love how athletes come in all shapes and sizes, and want my clothing line to reflect that. Sourcing is a little tricky as I'm doing low volume orders, but please be patient as I am working on getting items from XS up to 3XL.

RESPONSIBILITY

I spend a lot of time thinking about where clothing is made, and where it goes when we're done using it. Again, I am limited in my power as a low volume buyer, but when possible, I choose clothing that is ethically made. I believe in quality over quantity. I hope to make items that you will love, take care of, and keep for a long time.
