Fusing science and art to create amazing glassware
Chemically Speaking was born small. After being a 3D-printing fan for years, my husband Warren and I started visiting the local Makerspace together. I was drawn to the 3D-printers, but it was the laser cutter/laser engraver that caught his eye. We caught the "maker" bug and discovered how satisfying it can be to make objects that bring joy to other people. We explored different techniques and materials, but one project that really spoke to us was custom glassware and barware. The idea of custom wine glasses, pint glasses, and cocktail glasses was one that we kept coming back to, over and over. Why? When you sit down to enjoy a drink, be it a beer with friends or a glass of wine after the kids are in bed, that moment is about you. No matter how many hats you wear during the day, and no matter how much of a superhero you are to all the people in your life, that moment when you take your first sip is a moment of happiness and restoration and self-care. It's very personal. You're in your own microcosm, even if only just for a second. I believe your glassware should be just as personal. When you look down and see that glass of wine in your hand, or that beer on the counter, it's yours, and you feel even more special when it has something that's unique to you. Me? I'm a chemistry nerd, and I love seeing science infiltrate into the functional aspects of life, whether it's something you wear, home decor, or kitchen and barware. We want to bring that feeling that there is something for YOU to nerds everywhere.
