Necessity truly is the mother of invention
It all started when I was trying to pack for a 10 day vacation to Mexico. To put it simply, I didn't want to pay for extra baggage but how was I to fit everything in one carry on? I was bringing four pair of shoes. One pair for the beach, one for walking, one for dressing up at night and another pair for ziplining in a water park. Grrr, I ended up paying the extra baggage fee. Determined to never pay for baggage again I went about designing the perfect pair of sandals that would go with everything in my wardrobe and every situation. I had strict criteria and it took a solid three years to finally create a pair of sandals that would answer all of my needs. They had to be
1. Comfortable enough to walk for miles in
2. I had to easily be able to change the look of my sandals
3. They had to be compact for traveling
4. The laces had to stay up
And so Chrysandals were born. I chose rubber for the soles because it's the most comfortable and durable and it's recyclable. I went through a lot of materials before I found just the right combination of beauty and flexibility for our laces. The laces must move with your calve muscle if they are going to stay up. Chrysandal laces stay up!!
Chrysandals is a family owned business. We make them right here at our dining room table with our own hands. We do our best to source as many materials as we can from right here in the USA ( even if it costs a bit more. We think it's worth it.) As we grow we intend to employ people with disabilities. During this long journey I was diagnosed with MS and have since become disabled myself. I would very much like to use Chrysandals to help people just like me in the future.
