Architect turned homewares guru
I trained as an Architect and successfully worked in that field for over 20 years but always with an overriding passion and natural affinity for interiors.
Over the years whilst working and also renovating my own home I became frustrated by the selection of homewares on the market which didn’t meet my desire for something colourful with vibrant pattern, but also something that was well-made, not mass produced, and designs that would last rather than belonging to a passing trend.
Exhausted by the lack of options available to me I began creating my own shades. I was drawn to the African Ankara waxed cotton fabrics I saw around my neighbourhood in south-east London which are abundant with wonderful colours and patterns consisting of both graphic and natural motifs.
I started by making the lampshades for my home but this passion has grown and so I’m now launching this range of shades.
They generally use the Ankara fabrics mixed with plain and striped cottons and because I buy the fabrics in a 6 yard run it means all my shades are limited editions as I can only get between 10 and 20 shades (depending on shade size) from one fabric piece.
This means buyers can be sure they will have something that as well as reflecting their style is not produced for a mass market.
I design shades that give a complementary yet contrasting aesthetic whether switched on or off and add to the atmosphere in your room in both states.
All shades are made by myself in my home studio.
Look out for new designs regularly and please note that I am also able to make bespoke commissions up to 70cm in diameter. If you’re interested please do contact me for more details.
Thank you
