Why art?
–
Wait, aren’t there enough artists around? You’re right. According to the National Endowment for the Arts, there are 2.1 million artists in the United States alone. So, what makes my art so different?
MY DESIGN INSPIRATION
–
As a retired professor, I’ve listened to my fair share of lectures, speeches and sermons. Early in my career, I learned that sketching on paper not only kept my mind from wandering, it also helped me process what I was hearing and learning. What started out as a tool, quickly turned into a passion.
In the early 2000’s, I took a stain glass class at the university I taught at. And in 2014, I took serious interest in pottery. I started working with the art professor to hone my skills and I have never looked back ever since. While transitioning from professor to student in my pottery classes, I had a distinct vision for Clay Art Designs. It was there, that I began to develop my own individual pottery style.
MY DESIGNS
–
My clay creations blend the smooth and sought-after lines of pottery with the unique sketches of my past. I carve designs into the clay and also use coiling techniques to create functional pieces that can endure everyday use. You’ll find elements of nature mixed with abstract lines and unique textures in my pottery. I also draw inspiration from my travels across the world (37 countries to date), from my wife’s Hispanic roots (Argentina) and from my current place of dwelling (Oklahoma). I use vibrant colors to add life to my pieces and to hopefully add a hint of color to your life.
