My business began in 2004 when I spotted an old printing block during a treasure-hunting trip to an Antiques store. With a B.A. in Studio Ceramics, my mind always turns to translating my world in clay, and that printing block had CLAY TILE written all over it. After my first wood block printed clay tile, I was hooked, and began carving my own tile designs out of wood. It was a challenge to see how big or how small my tiles could be, leading to 1/2 x 1/2 inch tiles all the way up to huge 4 foot murals made up of large tile panels and 24 inch round designs. I developed a tile business for installable tiles used in kitchens/baths/fireplaces that I sell through boutique tile stores. During the pandemic, I was inspired to explore other uses for my tiles in home-goods; such as bread warmers, pizza stones and garlic grater dishes. I have a deep and abiding love of late 1800s design and the beauty imparted by the intricate images of the time. All of my designs reflect this, and my hand-carved molds, hand-pressing clay and hand-glazing techniques are true to that era's old world traditions. Recently, I stumbled across an antique wall paper roller from 1905. I have now incorporated 10 antique roller designs into my collection with new additions appearing regularly (I'm a bit obsessed at the moment). My love for clay allows me to provide my clients with authentically handmade tiles that are distinctive works of art created for elegant home decor.
