Hello and welcome to my small design line, Cleo and Poppy!
My name is Eszter. I was born and grew up in Hungary. My love for creation and especially for textiles (colors, patterns and textures) has started in my grandmother's workshop who was a seamstress. Spending my summers with her is one of the fondest memories of my childhood.
Surrounded by fabrics, yarns, laces I was always busy working on some small project for a special gift or for my own entertainment: crocheting baby blankets, knitting a pullover or fabricating clothes for my dolls.
Later on I have experimented with quilting, basket weaving and pottery as well but somehow soft fabrics just stayed with me all along my life. I have been expanding my unique collection of fabrics and yarns over the years with special emphasis on special finds and the idea of upcycling.
I have started my little Etsy store when my daughter turned 5 years old and we were in dire need of all kinds of stuffed friends! Ever since I am trying to create new items to make my little customers happy. I have a lot of ideas in store!
I plan to create now more nursery decor items and return to my love for quitling.
I do believe that HANDMADE items from natural materials bring warmth and a personal touch into your home. They make your life more connected and the world a better place to live in. It is a level of love, skill and craftsmanship not found in mass-produced items. Naturally original and imperfect. Personal, touching you inside.
Being low impact on Mother Earth is a primary focus in my work and life as well. I use organic, vintage and up-cycled materials when and wherever I can.
CLEO and POPPY is a collection of fun, colorful and high quality goods. Working from my home workshop, I design and handmade all products by myself. Everything you find in my shop is truly original and unique.
