Clockwork Art: Artist & Animal Rescue Advocate

Hi! I'm Braden Duncan (a.k.a. Clockwork Art) a full-time artist & animal rescue advocate based in Seattle, WA. My work combines a love of pop culture, mythology, mysticism, Steampunk, cybernetics and the natural world. My cats are my main models, and I use all traditional media (primarily watercolour). Tiny fat wind-up things make me smile, and I plan to take over the world with the strange & the adorable.

With the help of my kitty muses, I can officially say that I've turned 'crazy cat lady' into a viable profession! I make art that I love, and I'm thrilled to have the opportunity to share my creations with fellow animal lovers. I travel frequently for art events, so feel free to say hi if you see me at your local comic con, cat show, or horror fest! :)

Outside the studio, I help raise funds & awareness for animals in need, and I make every effort to support fellow artists & my creative community. I'm the exhibitor coordinator for Sea-Meow Con - Seattle's very first cat convention! I also assist with curation & art installation for a variety of galleries across the Pacific Northwest.

Thank you so much for stopping by - my kitties & I appreciate your support. :) If you like monthly rewards, discounts, exclusive sales, sneak peeks, first dibs on new pieces & behind-the-scenes photoshoots with my cats, I invite you to support me on Patreon! www.patreon.com/ClockworkArt

Cheers!

I don't accept cancellations
But please contact me if you have any problems with your order.
The following items can't be returned or exchanged
Because of the nature of these items, unless they arrive damaged or defective, I can't accept returns for:
  • Custom or personalized orders

Returns and exchange details
I describe each item to the best of my ability, but I might have overlooked a minor detail or two. If you have any questions or concerns, please let me know before leaving a review. I'm always happy to help!

PRINTS, CARDS, MAGNETS, STICKERS & PINS: There are no returns or refunds unless the item differs significantly from the description.

CUSTOM PORTRAITS: There are no returns or refunds for commissioned portraits. Each portrait is created-to-order, and I do not make any changes or adjustments to your portrait once you have approved the final version and it has been shipped.

EXCHANGES & REPLACEMENTS: On the rare occasion an item is damaged, incorrect, or accidentally left out of your package; I'm happy to send you a new one at no additional cost. (Custom portraits are an exception, as they are irreplaceable & require a USPS insurance claim.)

REFUNDS: If you'd like to return a damaged or incorrect item for a refund, please let me know within 14 days after you receive your package. I offer refunds for damaged or incorrect items that are returned to me within 30 days of the original delivery date. Unless otherwise agreed, I do not issue refunds for items that are not returned.

EXTORTION & HARASSMENT: I can't believe I actually have to clarify this. Demanding a refund with no intention of returning the item is a violation of Etsy's Anti-Extortion Policy. Leaving a negative review in an attempt to coerce me into issuing a refund for un-returned items is a violation of Etsy's Anti-Extortion Policy. Sending messages containing profanity, insults or threats is a violation of Etsy's Anti-Harassment Policy.

The overwhelming majority of folks I meet on Etsy are fantastic & inspiring. Sadly, I've recently encountered a few who can't be bothered to conduct themselves with civility. Please be aware that any customer who attempts to bully, intimidate, harass, threaten, insult or otherwise abuse me or my art - either publicly or privately - will be reported to Etsy for harassment & will no longer be welcome in my shop. I treat fellow humans with consideration & respect, and I expect the same in return. I have a Zero Tolerance Policy toward rudeness of any kind. So please be cool, for the kittens.
Payment
I accept PayPal, credit cards, and Etsy gift cards.

💌 SHIPPING INFO 💌
I ship on Mondays & Fridays (barring travel). Depending on the day you place your order, multiple days can elapse between the day I print your shipping label & my next USPS drop off. If you need expedited shipping, please either let me know in advance or purchase a shipping upgrade.

I offer FREE domestic USPS 1st Class shipping for orders over $35! For orders under $35, Etsy calculates shipping cost based on your location (both domestic & international).

I ship all of my items via the USPS in rigid or padded mailers designed to keep them flat & protected. Custom portraits & packages weighing over 15 oz are shipped Priority Mail; everything else is shipped 1st Class unless otherwise requested.

Please make sure your shipping address is up to date! Unless you request otherwise, I ship to the address provided by Etsy. I have no way of recovering packages that are delivered to incorrect addresses, and there will be additional fees if I need to re-ship your order.

If your order contains multiple postcards and/or stickers, please open the celo bags when your order arrives to double check before contacting me about missing items! I often package multiple items together to conserve packing materials.

Recycling & reducing my carbon footprint is important to me, so I will often reuse clean & undamaged packing materials from shipments I receive from my suppliers. These materials can include cardboard boxes, packing paper & bubble wrap.

TRACKING
If you have any questions about the progress of your shipment, you can track your package at usps.com using the tracking # included with your order. Please understand the only info I have is what the tracking # shows; but if you haven't received your order within 3 weeks (US) or 2 months (international), please let me know & I'll work with the Post Office to resolve the issue.

It's important to me that your package reaches you as safely, securely & quickly as possible; but I unfortunately have no control over packages once they leave my studio. I am not responsible for mail carrier or pandemic related delays, or the loss or theft of packages after they're marked as ‘delivered.’

⚠️ TO MY CUSTOMERS OUTSIDE THE US ⚠️
USPS has temporarily suspended shipments to multiple countries and cannot guarantee arrival times for any international orders. More info here: https://about.usps.com/newsroom/service-alerts/international/welcome.htm

Commissioned portraits are shipped with insurance via USPS International Priority Mail, and usually take 6-10 business days (pre-pandemic) for delivery. USPS International Priority Express Mail is available for an additional fee upon request, and usually takes 3-5 business days (pre-pandemic).

Prints, cards, magnets, stickers & pins are shipped via USPS International 1st Class Mail, which can take 10+ business days (pre-pandemic). Expedited shipping is available for an additional fee upon request.

I cannot be held responsible for any international customs fees, taxes, duties, or tariffs that you may incur past the point of sale. These fees are not included in the shipping price (I have no way of calculating them) and are the sole responsibility of the purchaser. I likewise cannot be held responsible for shipping delays due to international customs; I have no control over packages once they leave the United States.

The Post Office is the most reliable (and affordable) international delivery service I've found. If you have any questions concerning your country's import policies or the delivery of your international purchase, please use the tracking # on your Etsy receipt and contact your local Post Office.

If you represent an art space interested in carrying my work, feel free to contact me. I'm happy to offer discounted prices for prints, cards, magnets, stickers & pins purchased wholesale. Wholesale is available anywhere in the US (international on a case-by-case basis), consignment in the Seattle area only.

Pieces from my current bodies of work are also available for exhibition. If you represent a gallery space interested in hosting my original art, please let me know. I'm happy to work with you as schedules allow.

Frequently asked questions
Do you accept commissions?

I accept pet portrait commissions on a case-by-case basis as my schedule allows. For more info on sizes, pricing & my process, please visit my website:
www.clockworkart.com/pet-portraits.html

Where did your fan art go?

The majority of my comic & pop culture inspired kittens are no longer available on Etsy, but you can find them in my official web shop:
www.clockworkart.com/shop.html

Why do you watermark your images?

It deters art thieves from illegally downloading, printing & profiting from my work without my consent. Art theft is sadly rampant in the online community, and I've had my images stolen more times than I can count.

Not only is it illegal to use artists' work without our permission, art thieves threaten our livelihoods by exploiting art lovers & stealing sales that would otherwise support actual artists.

If you see my work (or the work of any other artist) on a site that doesn't properly credit us or link back to our websites, it's probably being used illegally. Please let artists know if you come across stolen art so we can report the offenders & file official DMCA takedown notices to have the stolen content removed.

Do you offer digital downloads or NFTs?

No. I don't I license any of my art for personal downloads. Reproduction quality is important to me, and I have no control over how often digital files are printed, or what they're printed on. I've unfortunately had too much experience with online art theft to be comfortable sending hi res digital files to anyone other than my trusted production partners.

I don't offer my work as NFTs either. I support digital artists having a platform to authenticate & sell digital 'originals,' but the negative environmental impact of current blockchain technology can't be ignored. I'm open to revisiting the possibility in the future if the industry develops a more sustainable model. If you see my art as an NFT, please let me know, as it is 100% stolen.

Can you change the colour, size, etc of this print?

No. I cannot accommodate custom colours, sizes, or any other adjustments for prints, cards, magnets, stickers or enamel pins. I'm a traditional watercolour artist, not a digital artist, and the pieces I've already created are intended to remain as is. I am happy to create an original commissioned piece if you'd like something a little different.

Can I have your piece tattooed on me?

I love seeing tattoos inspired by my work! All I ask is that both you & your artist credit me as the inspiration when sharing the finished piece on social media so that we can cross-promote.

Do you combine shipping or offer less expensive (letter-rate) shipping?

I happily combine shipping for multiple items & I offer free USPS 1st Class shipping for US orders over $35!

I do not offer letter-rate shipping. All of my items - from single postcards to original watercolours - are shipped in rigid or padded mailers designed to keep them flat & protected.

In my 15+ years of shipping experience, I've found that items sent in standard envelopes come with no tracking options & unfortunately run a higher risk of being lost or damaged in transit. It's important to me that every item reaches you as safely & securely as possible.

USPS 1st Class rates can seem high for single items, which is why I offer free shipping for orders over $35. Feel free to contact me if you have any concerns.

Do you ship internationally?

Yes! But please be aware that due to pandemic delays, deliveries to some international locations can take multiple months.

⚠️ USPS has temporarily suspended shipments to multiple countries & cannot guarantee arrival times for any international orders. ⚠️

Please check with your local Post Office prior to purchase if you have any concerns about your country's import policies.

I haven't received my order yet. Can you track it?

I ship Mondays & Fridays via USPS 1st Class Mail. Multiple days can elapse between the day I print your shipping label & my next USPS drop off.

You can track your package at usps.com using the tracking # included with your order. Please understand the only info I have is what the tracking # shows; but if you haven't received your order within 3 weeks (US) or 2 months (int'l), please let me know & I'll work with USPS to resolve the issue.

I am not responsible for mail carrier or pandemic related delays, or the loss or theft of packages after they're marked as ‘delivered.’

Do you offer original pieces for exhibit and/or wholesale for retail shops?

Yes! If you represent a gallery interested in showing my original work, please contact me for scheduling & availability.

While Etsy no longer supports wholesale accounts, I happily offer wholesale pricing for prints, cards, magnets, stickers & enamel pins.

If you represent an art space interested in carrying my work, feel free to email me directly - clockworkartshop(at)gmail(dot)com - with a link to your shop, and I'll send you my wholesale price list.
