Sustainably Crafted. Functional Art Everyday Life.
I started out my career as a woodworker building decks and fences and as a remodeling carpenter. I realized how much high quality wood was being wasted on every job. Whether it was wood being removed from the job or off cuts from wood going back into the job, there was always waste.
I've always had a creative side to me. I've also always had a strong recycling ethic. So naturally, I started diverting a lot of the wood from jobs I worked and started building smaller stuff....mainly small tables and stools.
When my wife and I had a baby, I became the stay at home dad. I continued to tinker around with woodworking while my daughter was growing up. I created a woodshop in my single car garage and gradually acquired more tools and more skills.
Once my daughter was able to go to school more than 1/2 day, I started Closed Loop Woodworks. I discovered many other areas of the woodworking industry that have leftover wood that needs to be disposed of somehow. Furniture makers, cabinet makers, wood processors, mill, flooring contractors and sales, etc etc etc. There is so much wood out there that is on its way to getting wasted...burned, chipped or left to rot in a landfill. I try to get as much of it as I can and turn it into unique and functional art.
If you've read this far and are still reading....a big thank you for your interest in my story and in my product line. If you've gotten this far, I'm assuming you also relate to my ethic of reduce, reuse and recycle. If so...thank you for your support and stewardship of our planet!
