Handmade unique vintage journals, textiles, ephemera, linens and journal supplies.
Many years ago I began scrap booking when my son was born - I wanted to capture every sweet moment with him as he grew older into a book that I could treasure forever. This turned into a passionate hobby for me and as my skills grew, the scrap booking world began to experiment with mixed media and from that point on, I was hooked on crafting with inks, paints and papers. My love for old books, vintage photographs and a bit of an obsession with antique paper and textiles found the perfect expression in making journals. I call them my 'scavenger hunts' where each Saturday I am hitting all the estate sales , flea markets, and thrift shops to search through dusty attics, barns, and closets to rescue lovely old items that I absolutely adore. I revive and reuse old textiles such as vintage clothing, antique pillows, dainty embroidered handkerchiefs, lace, wonderful table cloths and napkins, and throws and quilts, as they are simply gorgeous in their weathered and worn state. These forgotten beauties are always quite intriguing as to who owned them and who might have worn them in the past, they each have unique stories of their own to tell. I clean, fold, and collect into baskets all my beautiful treasures which I then make into arty junk journals that combine my favourite papers and cloths. As I have quite a growing studio full of such wonderful items, I will offer some of these unique vintage finds for you to create your own books that tell your own story. You can visit my blog to look at my journals at thepaperattic.blogspot.com. Thank you for visiting! I hope to spread the love of old papers and textiles and provide some inspiration as to what to make with them. XOXO
