Coco Expressions: Girl, Let Me Tell You Our Story!
Hey! So, back in 2017 when I was just playing around with some pencils and sketchpads? Child, those early days were something else! I swear my first doodles looked like a toddler's daydream. But you know what they say, “You gotta start somewhere!”
Life was serving me some tough lessons, from pregnancy loss, a tragic death and the loss of my grandmother who was like a parent to me. But instead of allowing myself to fall into a deep depression, I found solace in my scribbles, journaling and crafting. They were my therapy, my little escape. And even though those early drawings were... let's just call them "unique" (ha!), they were all heart.
Now, I started peeking around, and I was like, “Where are all the artsy pieces that look like us? Where's our melanin magic?” And that's when the light bulb went off! If I couldn’t find art that screamed ‘Black Girl Magic’, then honey, I was gonna create it. And that's how Coco Expressions was born.
I didn't stop there, though. I jumped into crafting like it was the latest dance challenge. Vinyl? Did that. Sublimation? Crushed it. Embroidery? Say less! And just when folks thought I was done, 2022 hit, and I sprinkled in some AI art. Yup, we're tech-savvy and trendy over here!
