Our Dream
Cora Bloom was started by accident really but has turned out to be such a blessing in our lives in more ways then one. In the January of 2013 my husband and I were given the devastating news that due to some severe medical issues I was having our dreams of starting a family of our own might never be realized. Heartbroken and bed ridden due to my illness I spent most of my days in bed to weak and to sick to do much. I became glued to whatever I could find to entertain myself on my ipad. ETSY quickly caught my eye and I was in awe of all the fun and exciting things I saw others were making! Not only did people have a creative outlet through ETSY but were getting paid for it as well!!!
I have always had an entrepreneurial sprint and thought to myself I could totally do an ETSY shop! I spent the next few weeks thinking about what I could make and how I would run my little shop. It helped so much at the time to think and plan out what my shop would look like. My heart was broken from my recent diagnoses and I was sick and in pain but this new little adventure was helping to keep my mind occupied and off my currently heartbreaking situation. I started to research and educate myself about the products I wanted to create. I spent my days and nights thinking of all the fun names I could name my shop. I thought about how I would market and what kinds of things I would sell. I am also a newborn photographer by trade so I think it was a natural choice to go into newborn props and baby boutique items. I thought it might be fun to personally create everything I would use to style my own newborn shoots. Soon after I decided to open a shop I had surgery to correct the medical issues I was experiencing and as soon as I started to feel better I got to work!!! After about two months of planning, creating, and listing my items under the ETSY drafts we finally opened our shop on March 1st, 2013.
About a year after opening our shop we decided to make it our career and focus on running the shop full time. I feel lucky that I get to spend every day working along side my handsome hubby and also that I get paid for doing what I truly love to do.
