Self Taught Artist and Hurricane Michael Survivor!
I have been a crafter and artist for as long as I can remember. But I got into making resin art in September of 2017. In May on 2018, I moved to Panama City, FL for my new job at the local hospital, and decided in September to open my own Etsy shop! Everything was rocking and I was really starting to sell some pieces and develop a customer base when the hurricane hit. On 10/10/2018 my dog (Sammy) and I took shelter in my shower and waited for the storm, which was only supposed to make land-fall as a Category 3, to pass. I had taken the footboard off of my bed and used it to block the door to the shower and to cover our heads with incase the roof came down. Once the storm was over, I crawled out of our hidey-hole and realized that the storm had ripped the roof off of my house. I had lost just about everything in the front of the house. But surprisingly, the one room that was the least touched was my art studio! After several days my family was able to make it into town and help me get out with as much stuff as we could take. I had to shut down my shop for several weeks while I tried to find a new place to live and get situated with a new job. But now I am back! I have 90% of my art supplies out of storage and am now ready to start making custom orders again! I have made almost 20 new badge reels since the storm, and several experimental pieces that I love. Expect to see them soon!
Hope everyone has a good holiday season!!
