The Cosmic Firefly Story
Hi we are Bryan and Nathan, a husband & husband team together for 24+ years and we own and operate Cosmic Firefly from our creative arts studio on the southern Oregon coast.
Cosmic Firefly is our main full time professional job for both of us, and we are very fortunate to have this incredible opportunity and we are conscientious to never take our success for granted.
Each of us had mothers that were crafty and were a big influence on our creativity and natural born artistic talents.
As a young boy, Bryan built little miniature movie sets and made stop motion animation movies with clay monsters. The year the original Star Wars movie came out in 1977, Bryan was 12 years old and he handcrafted his own handmade set of Star Wars dolls using Tic Tac containers as the body and pipe cleaners for the arms and legs, then sculpted little clay heads and constructed felt costumes and miniature props for each character. He has always really enjoyed making things with his hands.
As an adult Bryan graduated film school and has worked in the art department of movies and tv productions. Bryan has also worked professionally in the gift design and manufacturing business, and he's designed a series of collectible 3-dimensional writing pens that were sold throughout Disneyland and other theme parks.
Nathan's crafty mom "Joy", handmade painted ceramic buttons to embellish her own clothes and then he helped her set up and sell them at craft shows when he was younger.
Nathan loves to travel and has also worked in compassionate home health care, managed a crazy psychic bookstore, and has worked in the gift and souvenir marketing business. Nathan is also a writer and painter and has sold hundreds of hand painted original art to collectors all over the world.
We started Cosmic Firefly on Etsy in February 2009 with the idea to make unique metal embellished accessories and assemblage jewelry. We are proud to have been the Original Creators of many of the top selling items of all time on Etsy including our Famous Robot Cufflinks, Robot Tie Bars, Octopus Cufflinks, Embellished Cigarette and Business Card Cases and many more.
Bryan's main duties are making each item, taking all the pictures, writing the titles and descriptions, does quality control, and carefully hand packages each creation with care. Bryan is proud of his attention to detail and high level of professional craftsmanship.
Nathan is the creative designer of many of the pieces in our shop and is in charge of customer service, shipping issues, accounting and banking and much more.
Running an Etsy shop has been a unique and challenging adventure, and we are thankful and very fortunate for each of the wonderful customers who stop by for a visit and hopefully find a special handcrafted treasure to call their own.
Now 17-plus years and over 55,000 sales later we are proud to be in the top jewelry and accessories makers on Etsy.
