Welcome!
Hello!
Thank you for stopping by!
A long journey, which started when I was 4 years old with some yarn and a couple of toothpicks, has brought me recently to be accepted as a Member of the "Design and Craft Council of Ireland". It is a very well known and established organization that promotes and supports Irish based crafters and artists as well as their creations. In their own words: "As the national economic organisation for the design and craft industry in Ireland, our mission is to promote its creative and commercial potential."
- More about me and my craft -
I particularly love crochet and knitting and in my shop you will mostly find creations made with different types of yarn, fabric and fibres. I started knitting and crocheting when I was 4 years of age under the strong influence of two incredible teachers: my “nonna Luisia” and my “mamma Silvana”. I’m still happily doing both, so I can safely say that they are my biggest passions! It still amazes me what can come out of a simple thread and few basic tools when put together with some imagination!
As an allergy sufferer I have always had problems in finding custom jewelry I could wear without getting a bad reaction. For this reason I started to make my own jewellery out of fibres, yarns and fabric, together with natural material like wooden, glass and gemstones beads. I try to use very little amount of metal findings, and when I do I always try to use the hypoallergenic types.
My jewelry creations are all handmade and handcrafted, many are OOAK pieces, based on my original designs.
Although I’m proud of my finished products, I like to try my hands at different projects all the time, so please make sure you come back again as new products are continuously added in my Etsy shop.
Recently I felt the need to divide the handmade/handcrafted crochet jewellery products I create from the whimsical types of products I also make, and for that reason I opened another Etsy shop dedicated to colourful and lively gift and accessories, called FunAroundTheClock, that you're more than welcome to visit here: www.etsy.com/shop/funaroundtheclock
I keep a Facebook page where I keep track of what has been happening to my creations - including Etsy treasuries, gallery exhibits, window displays in specialised shops, local markets and so on - here: www.facebook.com/amcraftaroundtheclock.
