I was tired of crap beer...
The east coast, Pennsylvania in particular, is littered with small microbreweries. This has always afforded a great opportunity to sample a new, interesting combination like a Chocolate Peanut Butter Stout or a Mango IPA.
Expanding my palette beyond straight up ales has given me a new respect for the craft beer movement, and a need to share it with folks that would not necessary be exposed to all the brews available to us on the east coast. (Granted, PA state liquor laws have kept quite a few brewing companies out for a long time, but luckily I was not far from the borders of DE and MD). Now that I have moved to the west coast, I have plenty more to taste/try/collect! I am excited to see what they have to offer.
As an artist that usually prefers to work in the three-dimension, I have hoarding tendencies. This lead me to saving interesting bottle caps of the one or two beers I really enjoyed. Eventually that turned into a bit of a habit; stopping at small bars that sold bottles and asking for caps and soliciting friends. Though the process of creating these items is not super extensive, the hunt for the perfect cap or set of caps is.
My advice to you: please explore/expand your beer experiences and try new brews! You aren't just drinking something delicious, you are most likely helping a small business keep doing the wonderful things it loves to do!
