The art of knotting
As a child I fell in love with the arts and have been able to endure the opportunity to explore and discover the passion I have in creating from scratch.
It all started while watching craft shows on TV such as ZOOM and others that explained the complexity of art such as: painting, sketching, crafting, cooking, acting - you name it all.
My mom inspired me with the arts as she made dresses on special occasions (as a lifelong sewer of making clothing), which inspired me to make things from scratch, which I believe is a lost art in today's era.
My first friendship bracelet was created when I was 10 years old after watching it on TV. I however used regular string as opposed to embroidery floss (big mistake).
I began to realize and understand the different kinds of strings that are on the market (thanks to my mother) therefore, I made my next bracelet at 15 where I recognized the significant difference the use of embroidery floss made to the bracelet.
Luckily, I lived across the street from my city public library, so during summer vacations I enjoyed going there and checking out all types of crafting books. I learned mostly about paper crafts, yarn crafts, and friendship bracelets! I became extremely addicted in making friendship bracelets, because of its simplicity and the easy tools needed to make them.
So how did I get into Etsy in the mist of all this?
I began making bracelets for friends and family, and it wasn’t until later on that many friends encouraged me to begin a business with my craft. At first I became overwhelmed with starting because I quite frankly didn't know where to start, or what to expect. I began promoting my bracelets at my job at the time in order to begin growing and expanding. It wasn’t until 2013, when I first learned about Etsy thanks to some great people I met. That is when I decided to open up a store and go with the flow in creating what is now CraftStringBoutique.
