Crafting4Caleb was Launched
I have had a love for creating and crafting since I was very young and as my children have come into this world it has renewed my creativity!
My oldest son Caleb was born with a very rare heart condition, known as Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome, in which only 1/2 his heart developed. He had 3 open-heart surgeries in the first 18 months of his life and spent nearly 3 months in the hospital. During our first stay in the hospital we were gifted a handmade tag blanket to cover his nitrogen hood. It allowed a bit of shade from the bright hospital lights and improved his sleep. It also decorated a very scary hospital environment and brought a great deal of comfort to us as a family. When we returned home we were under quarantine at our home for 4 months. During this time I sewed up a bunch of tag blankets to donate and provide the same comfort that our family received. I made a few for baby showers for friends and people began requesting tag blankets and other sewn goods. This is how Crafting4Caleb was launched. Our shop started with 12 tag blankets and has grown to include new products and embroidery designs as people have requested custom orders. I have always found crafting to be a form of stress relief and while setting bedside, in doctors waiting rooms, or at feeding clinic appointments I generally sit and knit or snip threads from embroidered items.
Putting my love for crafting and vast financial needs together seems like a fitting way to work from home and provide Caleb the daily care he needs. Thus, all proceeds from the sale of Crafting4Caleb items goes toward Caleb's medical bills and ongoing care. I hope you enjoy the items that were lovingly made. Thank you for your support.
Caleb is my #1 sewing assistant. He enjoys taping boxes, putting business cards in packages, starting my embroidery machine, picking out fabric and ribbon colors, and coloring on the sides of my shipping boxes. So if your tape is a little wonky or your box comes with crayon drawings along the sides you'll know Caleb has personally touched your purchase and sends his thanks.
