The Story Behind Crafts GaLaura
Hi! My name is Laura, and my hands like to make things! :)
Ever since I was little, I have always enjoyed drawing, painting, cross-stitching, scrapbooking, writing and just doing anything that involved making things with my hands. Making unique gifts for people I know has always been a huge thing for me. I always do my very best to create something special for the people who are special to me! I really never gave a thought to selling the items I was creating. Until one day, I made a ton of things for my sister-in-law's baby shower. I painted an owl painting for the nursery, I made a diaper cake and basket and several other little things. A family member that was attending the shower brought it to my attention that I should have an Etsy shop. Well, I had never heard of Etsy, so I didn't know what she was talking about. I just said thanks and went about my life. After doing some research on it, I decided I would give it a try! I thought if the people I knew enjoyed the things I made for them so much, why wouldn't other people? I started my Etsy shop with just a few listings, and I wasn't getting much attention. I think it actually took about two months before I finally made my first sale! I was ecstatic. After that moment, I became addicted. I had to come up with more things to list in my shop! I gradually started making more and more sales. And now here I am today. No, I am not making a million sales, but I really am truly appreciative for each and every sale I make. I do my best to let my customers know that. I absolutely love that my passion of crafting things has actually become like a second job for me! My absolute favorite part of making things for people is hearing the story behind the things I'm making for them and giving them something special that they can cherish forever. That is what makes it all worth it to me!
The name Crafts GaLaura actually kind of started off as a joke. I asked my mom what I should call my shop, and she came up with Crafts GaLaura. I thought it sounded silly, (and sometimes I still do) but I honestly couldn't think of anything better to call it. It turns out it described my shop pretty well. I don't like to just make specifically one type of craft. I like to make a variety of different crafts. So having a name that sounds like "crafts galore" started making a little more sense. The "Laura" part was added because, obviously, my name is Laura.
I hope y'all enjoyed reading about my story as much as I enjoyed telling it!
