It All Started With A Musical Note
Until recently, I worked in fundraising. It's a wonderful, rewarding, stressful job. One of the many roles I had was organizing an annual event to involve everyone at my work in the idea of donating. Once I had successfully recruited volunteers, it only felt right to thank them in a tangible way. One of the tokens of appreciation I used was stained glass musical notes, made by me and my sister. When we finished the first batch, I held one up and said "That's a craft of note!" And the name of our cottage industry was born.
We still make stained glass. It's a fascinating art, with endless possibilities. One of the things we've learned through all the years we've been doing it is that the materials don't cost a lot once you have all the necessary tools. The cost of stained glass is mainly in the time it takes. Simple stained glass pieces should not cost a tremendous amount of money. People think stained glass is rare and pricey. Like with all art - some stained glass is rare and can be costly. But don't let anyone tell you that a simple stained glass sun catcher should cost an arm and a leg.
We added sewing to our shop because we've sewn since we were old enough to reach the old Singer we learned on. Creating with fabric is not so different from creating with glass, except there are a lot fewer cuts and scraps with fabric than with glass.
All of our items are handmade with care and with love.
