Giving back to those who protect us!
I was a police officer in Wisconsin from 2006-2024. I've always wanted to become a police officer since I was little after learning of a "in the line of duty" death of a officer from my hometown of Rice Lake, Wisconsin (Michael Baribeau).
A widow of an officer who died in the line of duty asked if I could make a Betty Ross flag out of fire hose. That widow followed my interior design work and thought I could make something great out of the fire hose for her house.
Since making that first flag many fire departments, police officers, fire fighters and the general public have purchased flags made out of fire hose.
Each roll of hose is unique and tells its own story or history. How many people did it save? how many house or car fires did it put out?. No flag is alike! Some people ask where I get the fire hose. The fire hose is either from local fire departments or found on Government auctions. Most fire departments do spring and fall hose testing and if it does not pass testing they throw it away. The fire hose is recycled, repurposed and reused by me for these intrinsic art pieces.
The other purpose is to promote pride and honor for this beautiful country. Many of my family members have served or are serving this country. The American Flag means much more then a symbol of this country. The flag is all of US!. Each flag made is made with care and honor.
Since starting this adventure I've added numerous products to re-use, repurpose, and recycle every inch of the fire hose (Signs, Can Coolers, Candles, Dog Toys, Rugs etc).
To give back to our first responders and support their hard work I am donating a portion of what is sold to either the Wisconsin Concerns of Police Survivors Charity and/or another first responder charity or community organization.
