Hi, and Welcome to Crestview Creative! I have loved art and pursued it in several different ways throughout my life. I've taught art, drawn with graphite, charcoal and colored pencils, painted with oil, watercolor, and water soluble oils, and hand-bind journals.

A dear friend encouraged me to try clay, and I fell in love.

I make functional hand-thrown pottery in Cameron Park, California and in my own studio. Each piece is thrown on a potters wheel and allowed to dry overnight. If the piece is to have a handle or decoration, this is where it happens.

The piece dries completely before it goes in my kiln to "bisque" fire. After a little more cleaning, glazes are applied and the piece once more dries. The next phase is the glaze firing, and the most exciting of all! Imagine opening up the kiln to see all the beautiful glazes come to life on what was originally a lump of clay!!

Additional policies and FAQs
POTTERY CARE INSTRUCTIONS - Our pottery is made of natural clays fired to a mature Cone 6 (1240 C / 2264 F) using a reliably tested and monitored firing program. We use certified food safe glazes and although we prefer hand washing as a best practice, our pottery is dishwasher safe.
To preserve pottery for a lifetime as an heirloom, please treat the piece as fine china.

Please note the care instructions below are standard for all handmade functional stoneware products and are not exclusive to our work.

1) Please wash pottery before use. Each piece is arriving to you straight from the kiln or stock room and may have unwanted packing material and dust clinging to the surface.
2) Our pottery is heat-resistant (oven-proof) to 450°F (230°C).
3) Please do not preheat the pot without food inside. Evenly distribute food in the pot and cover at least two-thirds of the surface for even heat distribution. Allow frozen foods to thaw in the refrigerator before placing into a hot oven.
5) Do not use pottery under the broiler or on direct heat sources.
6) Do not place pans or racks on top of pottery while baking. Light weight pie crust rings are okay as are pottery lids.
7) Do not allow pottery to touch the oven sides or door while baking.
8) Use non-abrasive kitchen tools to clean pottery. A nylon kitchen brush or scraper will remove baked-on foods. Soak a bit to soften as needed. Dry thoroughly before storing or next use.
9) Clean the undersides occasionally by mixing 3 tbsp. water with ½ cup of baking soda. Apply to the underside to soften baked-on foods and clean surface with a nylon brush or scraper. Rinse thoroughly with hot water.
10) Seat pottery carefully in the dishwasher to prevent any movement from the force of high-pressure water jets. Please hand wash all pottery with delicate accents like scrolled-end handles, bird accents, knobs, etc.
11) Hot stoneware and porcelain can cause burns if handled improperly.
Please use heat-resistant oven mitts and protect delicate surfaces by using protective pads.
12) For your safety, please do not glue or continue to use chipped or damaged pottery.
