Cross and Stone began with a simple belief: that faith deserves to be held, not just spoken. Each piece is handcrafted in Saint Charles, Iowa, pairing natural limestone with hand-carved wood- bound together with leather, wire or natural cord.

Mike Ayers is the creator of Cross and Stone- A quiet walk along a creek bed found Mike holding a piece of limestone in his hand and in his heart. What started in grief blossomed into faith and hope. Something tangible you can hold in your hand.

Frequently asked questions

What makes these sculptures unique?

Authentic stone and wood, never molded. Every piece is hand-sculpted using genuine Indiana limestone and premium hardwoods. Unlike mass-produced resin or plastic replicas, these are substantial, permanent works carved by hand from natural material- made to be handled, displayed, and passed down.

Will my piece look exactly like the listing photo?

It will be uniquely yours. Because I work strictly with natural stone and organic hardwoods, every sculpture carries its own distinct grain, chiseled texture, and subtle color variations. You aren't purchasing a factory copy; you are receiving a one-of-a-kind creation with its own natural character.

How substantial are these pieces? Where should I display them?

They have a solid, powerful presence. These are heavy, heirloom-quality sculptures (typically weighing around 2 to 4 pounds). They are designed with a sturdy flat foundation, making them perfect for prominent display on a mantel, bookshelf, desk, or dedicated home-altar space where they won't easily tip.

Custom and personalized orders

Many Cross and Stone pieces have been given as sympathy gifts and memorials. The weight and permanence of natural limestone makes them a meaningful way to mark loss or honor someone's faith. If you'd like help choosing the right piece for a specific occasion, just send a message.

Is the stone fragile? How safely do they ship?

They are packed like museum artifacts, Indiana limestone is incredibly durable- it's the very stone used to build iconic, lasting monuments. To ensure it survives the journey to your doorstep, every sculpture is custom-wrapped in high-density protective foam and double-walled boxes. In the rare event the universe wins and transit damage occurs, just send a photo within 48 hours and I will make it right immediately.

How Do I care for the limestone and wood?

Beautifully simple maintenance. To preserve the raw, natural integrity of the stone and wood grain, skip the liquid cleaners, oils and harsh chemicals. A gentle dusting with a dry microfiber cloth every now and then is all it takes to keep your sculpture pristine for generations to come.

How long will it take my order to ship?

Most pieces in the shop are ready to ship within 1-3 business days. Custom and memorial orders require additional time, typically 2-3 weeks depending on the piece. If you n need something by a specific date, just send a message before ordering and I'll let you know what's possible.
