About Crystal's Creations & Gifts
I started creating things at a very early age. From designing clothes for my dolls to making mud pies for my pretend café, creating things has been a big part of my life.
I taught myself to crochet when I was about 8 years old. I would work on my crochet project everywhere possible – in school, on the bus, in the car. It was so much fun for me to turn that long piece of string into a finished item.
My entrepreneurial venture began in 1978. I sold a pair of chocolate brown potholders with off-white trim to my bus driver, Ms. Hunter. I do not remember the price but I am sure it was enough to make my third-grade self happy.
As the years went by, I also taught myself to knit and sew. Twenty-two years after selling my first set of potholders to my bus driver, it was time to share my creations with the rest of the world. Crystal's Creations & Gifts was started in 2001.
I have always enjoyed making things and believe the creative gene was passed down from my dad. With no formal training and being self-taught, he is a very skilled wood artisan.
Creating something handmade will always be a part of my life. I believe everyone has a creative side. They just need to find the one thing (in my case - MANY) that truly makes them happy.
