Crafting Timeless Pins That Hold Family Stories
When I was 10 years old, my grandmother sat me down at her kitchen table, opened a worn wooden jewelry box, and pulled out a small enamel brooch—shaped like a daisy, its petals faded but still vibrant, its metal edge slightly worn from years of wear.
“That was my first brooch,” she told me, smiling as she ran her finger over the petals. “Your grandfather gave it to me when we started dating, back in 1957. I wore it to our wedding, to your mother’s graduation, to every holiday. It’s not perfect, but it’s filled with love—and that’s what makes it special.”
Over the years, she showed me more: a filigree butterfly brooch she wore when she got her first job, a tiny pearl-embellished pin for my mother’s first birthday, a geometric Art Deco style pin that belonged to her own mother. Each one had a story—a moment of joy, a milestone, a connection to our family. When she passed away, she left that jewelry box to me, and I carried it everywhere, clinging to those little pieces of our history.
But as time went on, I noticed something: the brooches were fragile, and I was terrified of losing them. More than that, I wanted to share the feeling they gave me—the warmth of family, the nostalgia of cherished moments—with others. I wanted to create brooches that felt like heirlooms, that could hold someone else’s family stories, even if they didn’t have a grandmother’s jewelry box to pass down.
That’s how Brooch Crafter was born.
Today, every brooch in our shop is inspired by my grandmother’s collection. The daisy enamel pins mirror the one my grandfather gave her; the filigree designs echo the butterfly she wore with pride; the delicate pearl accents honor the pin she made for my mother. We use high-quality enamel, polished brass, and natural materials, handcrafting each piece just as my grandmother would have—with patience, love, and attention to every tiny detail.
We don’t just make brooches—we craft wearable family stories. A daisy pin might be a gift from a parent to a child, marking a milestone. A filigree butterfly could be a reminder of a loved one’s strength. A vintage-style pin might become a new heirloom, passed down from generation to generation.
