Every step you take in the right direction counts.
Lets face it, living on an island in the middle of the ocean has anyone that thinks about sustainability wondering what could possibly be done to lessen our footprint and reduce waste. That's exactly what I am trying to do with Cupcycle Glassworks. I collect bottles and repurpose them for continued use and save them from ending up in our landfill, where they would sit for several years. To add to the use of recycling bottles, many other aspects of my business thrive in a sustainable way. I surf and have a lot of friends that surf. Thats what we do here in Hawaii. Whenever new surfboards are ordered, they are usually shipped here from the mainland, wrapped in bubble wrap and packaged in cardboard boxes. What I've managed to do is to reach out to all my board buying friends in the hopes of capturing as much bubble wrap as I can. Just one more thing I can recycle and eliminate from ending up in our landfill. I also reclaim unread newspapers from local vendors to use as packaging to help insure safe travels for all the glasses I make, thus further reducing our carbon footprint here in the islands. I hope you enjoy our glassware, made with Aloha!
