Mi trabajo tiende a girar en torno a la nostalgia, el optimismo y el CAMBIO: bueno, malo o no. Pinto mis sentimientos, e inspirado por las cosas que me preocupan, sueño despierto, río y lloro, me consuelan y aguanto, desde lo tonto hasta lo francamente traumatizante. Me encanta la experiencia meditativa y sensorial de trabajar con cera en todas sus formas. La textura y la profundidad son aspectos muy importantes de mi trabajo, y mi trabajo generalmente se crea a partir de una combinación de encáustica, cera fría, tinta, goma laca, pigmentos, aceites y acrílico. Mi experiencia ha sido una mezcla de aprender a hacer las cosas correctamente mientras experimento simultáneamente en prácticas que probablemente resultarían en un fracaso épico, y como un gran fanático de los "accidentes felices", algo de lo que he aprendido a no preocuparme.
¿Por qué "Curly Tails Studio", podrías preguntarte? Bueno, no he hecho una obra de arte dentro de mi estudio en casa sin la compañía de al menos un perro pug desde 2006. Parece correcto darles algo de crédito.
My work tends to revolve around nostalgia, optimism and CHANGE – good, bad, or otherwise. I paint my feelings, and inspired by the things I worry, daydream, laugh and cry about, am comforted by and endure, from the silly to the downright traumatizing. I love the meditative and sensory experience of working with wax in all forms. Texture and depth are very important aspects of my work, and my work is typically created from a combination of encaustic, cold wax, ink, shellac, pigments, oils, and acrylic. My experience has been a mix of learning how to do things properly while simultaneously experimenting in practices that would most likely result in epic failure – and as a huge fan of “happy accidents,” something I have learned not to worry about.
Why "Curly Tails Studio," you might ask? Well, I have not made a piece of art within my home studio without the company of at least one pug dog since 2006. Seems right to give them some credit.
