Welcome to My Custer Cottage where you find heritage crafts for hearth and home whether it be a cottage or a castle. I desire to be surrounded with vintage romantic beauty. I remember grandma's home where quilts were on every bed, doilies decorated table tops, flower printed wallpaper was on the walls, and lace curtains blew with each breeze. Heritage crafts for hearth & home, cottage or castle

I enjoy creating and find the process and product to be equal in value to me.

Many of my friends have told me for years that I should sell my wares on Etsy. I am finally here and I hope you enjoy what I create.

As a small child I remember sitting on the floor next to my mother as I learned to sew with a needle and thread as she sat in front of her sewing machine making clothes for her business and for our family. My Grandmother Mary taught me how to knit when I was around the age of 8. She taught me how to crochet when I was a little older. I remember my first knitting needles were made from pink plastic! My Grandmother Elizabeth taught me many culinary skills while we prepared meals for large family gatherings and for feeding harvest help. The harvest helpers, which were usually college boys, were great ginny pigs for sampling my many endeavors and they didn't even complain when they got a clump of baking soda in a slice of pumpkin bread. LOL It was so nice to have fresh home grown ingredients to cook with. As you have probably noticed, my mother and grandmothers were a major influence on me in my life. I learned heritage crafts from them and I have tried to carry on those traditions through my craft expressions.
