Happy Fibre and Textile Creations
Hi!
My name is Kayleigh, and I am based in Hinckley, Leicestershire where I live with my husband and two overly spoilt cats. I’ve been here for nearly 6 years after living in Suffolk and Norfolk up til then.
My story has developed and evolved over the last however many years since I started my Etsy shop. Through college and university, I mainly concentrated on polymer clay and plastic jewellery and funky little creatures. These kept me sane while studying and gave me a great creative outlet!
In my last year or so of uni, I took up crochet again after years of not picking up a hook. I sold the odd bit here and there, but nothing much. Soon after, I learnt to knit! Socks were the only reason I wanted to knit, and although I now knit more than I crochet, socks are still one of my favourite things to make.
After I moved away from home, and in with my other half, my material of choice, Friendly Plastic, was discontinued. I also had a new job working in a Pottery Painting shop, and so my making-to-sell took a back seat. I dabbled in sewing, but honestly always ended up wanting to throw my sewing machine out a window...it got better as I learnt more about how it worked. Turns out, it was operator error!
Fast forward to this time last year when I began a new job as a teaching assistant in a local primary school. Although working more hours, I found myself more productive and really wanted to get back into the making-to-sell. I’d had so many compliments on my own handmade bobble hat that that is where I started! This year, during the Covid-19 lockdown, I’ve also added my new ranges - chunky knitted socks (yay!), and project bags for knitters and crocheters, including my unique double-sectioned yarn bag.
I hope you enjoy looking around my shop, and following me as my story evolves even further!
Kayleigh.
