DAVAL is a great company! Had issues receiving this color, and their customer service when I contacted them about it was great! When I did get a color from them, it goes on super well and stays well, too. Love that it is cruelty free!

I originally wanted to order order Nova and was told that they no longer make that color but they would for me which I thought was amazing... I figured I would try another color just in case I wouldn’t be able to order Nova again... I tried the color Taz and it just didn’t look right on me.. I had my friend try it and it looked amazing on her so I gave it to her... she has been wearing it and told me that she was upset this weekend when she thought she lost it but thankfully she found it.... really really recommend them!! They are great and it’s really nice to get a thank you card with every order... it shows that they appreciate their customer

I absolutely love this color— it is called Nova .. when I went to order it again it was no longer available. I sent an email and they said that they would make the color for me... I was so surprised and amazed that they offered to do that instead of trying to get me to use another color... From Scientist to Lipstick Maker

DAVAL Beauty was created by a lipstick-loving chemical engineer. Following completion of her graduate studies and after working in various R&D sectors, she decided to experiment with formulating her own lipstick for personal use. This was due to the limited availability of affordable, highly pigmented, comfortable, long-wear lipsticks on the market. This hobby soon transformed into a small business following requests from friends and family for the product.

All DAVAL lipsticks are handcrafted in small batches in Halifax, Nova Scotia with the synergy of science, beauty, and love. We are continually working to optimize and refine our formula for your comfort and wear. With roots from Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, we take a lot of pride in providing you with our best product and customer service. This is our passion, labor of love, and side hustle.

As vegetarians for over 20 years, it is very important to us that both our products and source ingredients are cruelty free and not tested on animals.

All of our lipstick shades are modeled after very special individuals in our lives (our muses). Like RoRo, aka Rochelle, she's our vibrant and spunky beauty.

Are your lipsticks vegan?

No, our lipsticks contain beeswax (cera alba). Sorry vegan friends. However, our lipsticks are vegetarian.

Will your lipsticks dry out my lips like traditional liquid mattes?

No, our pigment-packed, moisture-rich, moussey formula will glide on your lips and dry down to a comfortable, silky, soft matte finish. Our lipsticks do not feel like cement on your lips and will not crumble. You will be able to easily re-apply, layer, and rub your lips together in DAVAL - it's total lip freedom. However, we always recommend that you exfoliate and moisturize your lips between wears.

Is this shade sold out?

If a specific shade is not available - it is sold out or discontinued. We have a very very small operation (we make lipsticks in our spare time) and we handcraft each one, so it takes us time to build inventory and restock. Please reach out to us and we will try and prioritize making a particular shade for you. Also check our Instagram feed for shade restock updates.

Do you offer wholesale?

Due to our small size and part-time availability, we do not offer wholesale. Thank you for your interest and we apologize for any inconvenience.

Where can I purchase your lipsticks in Halifax, NS?

At this time we do not have a store front location in Halifax, NS, but we do attend local markets in the area. A listing of our upcoming events can be found in our "ANNOUNCEMENT" section above.

Are your lipsticks scented or flavored?

No.

Are your swatches true to color?

All swatches are taken in natural lighting. However, colors will vary in appearance depending on skin tone, lip pigmentation, application thickness, lighting, and your devices screen settings. We always recommend that you view photos of a shade on our Instagram page (search #shadenameDB).

How should I apply my lipstick?

We recommend exfoliating and moisturizing your lips before wear. Apply a thin and even coat of lipstick, otherwise the product will not dry properly. Blot/remove any excess. Allow lipstick to dry and set. Layer accordingly. Please note that too many layers will increase thickness, silkiness, and transfer of lipstick. To improve wear time, avoid oily foods.
