Coins from Bucha - a small town with a brave heart
We are two friends, natives of Bucha, who met in the first grade and graduated from school together. Then our paths diverged: Vlad connected his life with architecture, and Dmytro found himself in the study of economics. In times of peace, we worked on our own front - we built our future and the future of our community. Each of us lived our own lives and only occasionally met. But the war has changed everything... Needless to say, what a shock this terrible event was for us. Our life turned upside down. We, like every Ukrainian, lost something during this tragedy: work, property, acquaintances, friends. But all these disagreements did not break us. On the contrary, our people have united like never before. Thus, we, two comrades who sat at the same desk once a long time ago, united again, but this time to create something special, something that we had never done before. A small thing that will fit in the hand of even a child, but with a story that will be too heavy for only one heart.

We all want to live under a peaceful sky. To be a part of a society where violence is not an everyday norm, where weapons in the hands do not give carte blanche to any crimes, where human life is the highest value. In a civilization where law, order and freedom reign.
Our world has come a long and thorny path before this dream became a reality. Thousands of years of bloody conflicts have harvested their terrible harvest of innocent lives and made our ancestors wonder: is it worth it? What achievements can justify the death of innocents, destroyed cities, scorched earth? Is there an aim that justifies this means?
Since then, much has been done on this path - on the road to a world where a person can live freely without fear for his life. In a world where air raid sirens don't sound every day, where people don't hide in basements, wondering if something will remain in their place this time or if they will find only a sinkhole there.
Until recently, we all thought that we live in such a world. Until the fateful morning of February 24 came and the first bombs fell. In the following weeks, many citizens of Ukraine had to see pictures of a completely different world, one where human life is worth nothing, and death sneaks around every corner every minute. The war came to peaceful cities, crippling lives, destroying what had been built for many decades. One of these cities was Bucha. She met the edge of a merciless blow directed at the heart of independent Ukraine. Many innocent people lost their lives, falling victim to senseless aggression. Their homes were razed to the ground, schools and theaters were turned into ruins, and their former life was torn to shreds.
But Bucha survived. As soon as the enemy retreated, pressed by the Armed Forces of Ukraine, its steadfast and courageous inhabitants began to restore the destroyed parts. The rubble was dismantled, the houses (where it was possible) were repaired, and on the streets the columns of military equipment were replaced by ordinary peaceful passers-by. The night is darkest just before sunrise - and this morning has finally come for Bucha: the dawn of new hopes.
In order to return what has been lost, in order to revive the dream of a better world, one in which life does not pass under the ruthless dictates of war, much more needs to be done. And you, personally, can contribute to the hard work of restoring Bucha. Right now, you can do a good deed and get a commemorative coin made in Bucha, the city where the turning point of this war took place. The front side of the coin depicts the coat of arms of Bucha - a leaf of a tree, and under it there is a railway. A symbol that the worst times will be left behind if we keep moving forward, a sign that the world will heal its wounds. Tomorrow new trees will rustle their leaves where yesterday there was only ashes. We will not forget what we have experienced, but we will move forward towards the dawn of a new, better world. We hope you will join us along the way.
