We recommend hiring a local licensed or insured professional such as a carpenter, builder, handyman/woman, etc for installing the swing to your roof/structure. If you're using the rope provided to hang it, the rope will stretch in the beginning over time. I like to use a 5 gallon bucket to set one side of the swing on to tie and or re adjust the rope.

If using proper hanging hardware, and it's properly installed to a good structure, and the rope or chain is in good working condition, it can hold enough appropriate weight for a porch swing.

We use real wood to build these swings. Real Wood is unique to every piece and each piece will have its own natural look and variations of marks, knots, fibers, slits, and small cracks. Or imperfections. Each piece is unique in its own way and will not look like its factory made fake wood. Thus giving it a natural look. After we cut each piece, we sand to a smooth finish and then stain or paint it with exterior finish. Despite this it could still show spots of tiny cracks or slits or small holes where knots used to be. This is very common with real wood and just adds to the charm of real wood porch swings. We use Pine Doug Fur Wood which is considered a soft wood and it is great for porch swings!

If you ordered a seat cushion and/or pillows, They ship separately and it takes my production partner and I longer to prepare the cushion and pillows. Normally its around 4 to 6 weeks to get them shipped. Expect longer lead times between June through August for the cushion and pillows during the busy season because of the demand for outdoor upholstery. I will update you if there is a delay.

These porch swings are not a toy. Please use caution and always provide adult supervision when children are using the swing. These swings are not designed for horse play or standing and jumping on. Some children and even adults may be tempted to swing them back and forth like a toy swing set, which could result in serious injury or even death. Please make sure the swing is installed properly and with proper hardware for your ceiling and that the ceiling, beams, studs, pergola, etc or other hanging platform is in good working order. Please hire a licensed, insured professional to install it if you feel uncomfortable doing it. I hold no responsibility for installation and improper use of the swing.

Work the back edge in one corner and get the fabric snug then get the other back corner in. Pull the cover to the rear to place all the foam inside and then run your hand around the edges, pushing the hem and dacron to the sides so the faces are smooth. The foam is bigger than the cover by design for a tight fitting cushion.

I provide everything you need for your porch swing to hang it other than the hardware that will attach to your porch ceiling, pergola, etc. Your order includes the rope and the swing and optional cushions and pillows but not hardware that attaches to your ceiling/structure. This is for your own safety. Not every home/structure is built the same. I think it would be irresponsible and potentially dangerous of me to provide a hardware that may not be appropriate for your home/structure. You can find hanging hardware at your local hardware store and online. Please hire an insured expert, carpenter, builder, etc to install it if you feel uncomfortable or uncertain.

I provide 56 feet of 1 inch thick Manila Rope for your swing to hang it. It will come with 2 ropes measuring 28 feet each. This gives you the option to hang the swing with 2 points with the 2 ropes, or you can cut the ropes in half and use 4 points with the 4 ropes to hang it. Manila rope is durable and can last many years but not forever. Over time the dark brown color can fade due to the outdoor elements. It's recommended to change the rope over time. To keep the ends of the rope from fraying, you can wrap some twine around them. Also you can use outdoor tape to wrap them and also you can whip them with liquid whipping.

Crib size (fan favorite and my personal favorite) is great for sitting upright with comfortable back support. It has the look and feel of the classic porch swing we've all come to know growing up and seeing on someone's front porch out in the country as we drove by. PRO's: Very comfortable sitting up right with your feet on the ground, feels just right, pretty much perfect.

Twin size is great for laying back and lounging with your feet off the ground while reading a book or taking a nap on a big porch overlooking the pool, farm or garden.
PRO's: Lots of space to lay down on with legs and feet off the ground.

You'll be happy to know that my porch swings reflect what Etsy exhibits as its main selling point. Unique items handmade by makers as myself that are original and different from others. My porch swings are my designs and have been perfected through the years. I didn't google "How to build a porch swing bed" and copy that same design, build and start selling it on Etsy. I don't want to sell you something from a blog post I didn't create and that's not my design.
