¡Bienvenido! Soy Joanne Rueckerl, fundadora y creadora de Dancing Birch Studio. Estoy
con sede en Brooklyn, inspirada en la naturaleza, y abrí mi tienda en 2018 después de casi
veinte años de fabricación de joyas.
Mi viaje en joyería comenzó cuando dejé mi puesto de analista financiero en "Wall"
Street" para convertirse en masajista. Siempre me atrajeron los cristales y las piedras, pero comencé a usarlos para aterrizar y protegerme cuando trabajaba con clientes. Un día vi un brazalete de fluorita en Bendels en la ciudad de Nueva York. Era demasiado caro para el presupuesto de un terapeuta de masaje, así que busqué tiendas que vendieran cuentas semipreciosas e hice una para mí. Comencé a hacer regalos para familiares y amigos, seleccionando piedras que les convenían perfectamente.
Cinco años más tarde regresé al mundo financiero y usé mis creaciones de piedras preciosas para complementar mi atuendo corporativo. Lo que sea que te digan sobre el estrés de trabajar en la industria financiera es cierto. Quería que mis joyas agregaran un toque especial a mis atuendos y me hicieran sentir más poderosa en una industria dominada por los hombres. Mi trabajo llamó la atención y comencé a vender piezas personalizadas a compañeros de trabajo, gerentes y luego al público en el Brooklyn Women's Exchange.
Potencia, estilo y brillo
Creo que ningún atuendo está completo sin joyas. Los accesorios deben elevar / pulir su apariencia y aumentar su energía.
Selecciono a mano todas mis piedras de espectáculos de cuentas, gemas y minerales. Si tengo una idea
que no puedo esperar, voy a proveedores de renombre en Ebay y Etsy. También he reutilizado joyas vintage de los mercados de pulgas para hacer algo nuevo. De hecho, he trabajado con algunos clientes para crear nuevas piezas utilizando las perlas y cuentas vintage de su madre y abuela.
Pienso en una pieza durante días (a veces semanas) antes de hacerla. Primero viene un color o piedra específica y el estado de ánimo que crea. Luego establezco la base y mapeo el diseño hasta que tenga el aspecto deseado y la combinación de colores. Si alguien quiere una pieza personalizada, elijo piedras basadas en el signo de nacimiento, la tez y la personalidad.

¿Por qué dancing birch?
El abedul simboliza nuevos comienzos, crecimiento, adaptabilidad, regeneración y
esperanza. Esos elementos describen perfectamente mi viaje desde el lanzamiento del estudio en
2017.
El abedul nos pide que echemos raíces en nuevos suelos. Así que aquí estoy. También aprendí que es el árbol de mi mes de nacimiento. ¿Coincidencia? Quizá no...

Welcome! I’m Joanne Rueckerl, founder and maker of Dancing Birch Studio. I’m
based in Brooklyn, inspired by nature, and opened my shop in 2018 after almost
twenty years of jewelry making.
My journey in jewelry began when I left my financial analyst position on “Wall
Street” to become a massage therapist. I was always attracted to crystals and stones but started wearing them to ground and protect myself when I worked with clients. One day I saw a fluorite bracelet at Bendels in New York City. It was too expensive for a massage therapist’s budget so I looked for stores that sold semi-precious beads and made one for myself. I started making gifts for family and friends, selecting stones that suited them perfectly.
Five years later I returned to the financial world and wore my gemstone creations to compliment my corporate attire. Whatever they tell you about the stress of working in the financial industry is true. I wanted my jewelry to add a special touch to my outfits and make me feel more powerful in a male dominated industry. My work got attention and I started selling custom pieces to coworkers, managers, and then to the public at the Brooklyn Women’s Exchange.
Power, Style, and Sparkle
I believe no outfit is complete without jewelry. Accessories should elevate/polish your look and add to your energy.
I hand select all of my stones from bead, gem, and mineral shows. If I have an idea
that can’t wait, I go to reputable vendors on Ebay and Etsy. I have also repurposed vintage jewelry from flea markets to make something new. In fact, I have worked with some clients to create new pieces using their mother and grandmother’s vintage pearls and beads.
I think about a piece for days (sometimes weeks) before I make it. First comes a specific color or stone and the mood it creates. Then I lay out the foundation and map the design until I have the desired look and color combination. If someone wants a custom piece, I choose stones based on birth sign, complexion, and personality.

Why Dancing Birch?
The birch tree symbolizes new beginnings, growth, adaptability, regeneration, and
hope. Those elements perfectly describe my journey since launching the studio in
2017.
The birch tree asks us to take root in new soils. So here I am. I also learned it’s the tree of my birth month. Coincidence? Maybe not...
