mind, body, heart and spirit wellness all wrapped up in a bar of soapy goodness!
The BASICS: Handmade soap cleanses while maintaining the oils that naturally moisturize your skin. The ingredient list is pretty darn short, and you can pronounce each one! Thoughtfully crafted, each bar has its own quirks and qualities meant to invoke at least 20 seconds of soapy goodness! So, go on-pick your favorite soap and wet, lather, scrub, rinse and dry!
NEXT STEPS: Take a wellness moment while washing with soap. For those 20 seconds, bring yourself fully present. Breathe · Pause · Reflect · Refresh · Breathe
DEEP THOUGHTS: Looking for ways to add more mindfulness into your day? Take it a step further. Each time you use soap to wash, enjoy a wellness moment designed by YOU. As you wash, let whatever you no longer wish to carry flow away with the soapy suds and water. LET IT GO! And then, invite what you wish to fill your heart, mind, and body. Just like that, you have turned a 20-30 second activity into a mindful wellness moment. Considering the average person washes their hands anywhere between 3-10 times a day, that adds up to a lot of soapy goodness moments!
Finding balance is a lifelong journey that is always changing. As we ride the ebbs and flows, remember that the tools to navigate are already within.....and because we are a part of the web of life, what we use on our bodies, what we eat, where we spend time, and how we relate to the environment all make a difference!
Wash, breathe, take a moment, and breathe again. Refocus, pause, and refresh......
coalesce (verb) : come together to form one mass or whole - from the mid 16th century latin word coalescere 'grow together', co-(with) + alescere 'grow up' (from alere 'nourish')
I first started making soap not long after the birth of my first son (2000). For health reasons, we were a family that used scent-free, allergenic, natural bath, and body products. As a "girls night out" I took a class on soap making in Seattle, WA and the addiction began. Knowing I could be creative, have fun, and produce natural, luscious soap, and body products for my family, I could not stop. Crank up my favorite tunes, put on my favorite apron, don the sassy safety glasses, and get funky with the elements. Creating potions to invoke the senses, nourish the spirit, and pamper the body.
Through the years I've always made soap, some years more than others, but we've always had handmade cold process soap on hand. A whole health educator and wellness coach by day, it always seemed that soap, (something we put on our body every day) and wellness went hand in hand. I didn't really ever officially put them together until a couple of years ago when I started teaching soap classes. SO MUCH FUN! Taking a mindful moment to breathe, pause, and create an intention for your soap was woven into the creative process during class.
Recently during the COVID quarantine, I found myself making soap, a lot of soap......and then giving it to my community. Each slab of soap was filled with gratitude, hope, courage, and basic goodness in hopes to offer a spark of light for those working in the health, medical, and food service industries as well as those grieving the death of a loved one.
Here I find myself opening up the Etsy store and adding the soap line to my health and wellness website. In addition, I will be making very thoughtful gift boxes for you to send to people you love and cherish who may be needing an extra bar of soapy goodness to bring hope and compassion to their day.
I look forward to spreading goodness, love, and hope with you!
