Care instructions
** PRESERVING AFRICAN WOODEN TRIBAL MASKS **
We take care of our wooden African masks only by dusting with a soft clean and dry paint brush directed towards a vacuum cleaner nozzle. Take great care with brittle and loosely attached decorative elements.
In addition, we ensure that the masks are not in a humid room and also not exposed to the sunlight directly. That's all we do..
We never use special oil or beeswax on the masks, so as not to detract from the value, patina and beauty of the mask
If over time it is absolutely necessary to use an oil due to drying of the mask, recognizable by increased small cracks in the wood, then I would use a special oil (only for the inside of the mask) after consultation with a recognized curator.
