Confessions of a Planner Addict: How Stickers, Schedules, and a Silhouette Machine Took Over My Life
Hi, I’m Rachael, the artist and creator behind Dark Moon Paper, and I’ve been planner-obsessed for as long as I can remember. It all started with an academic planner in high school, which kept me on track and gave me a sense of control over my busy days. Later, a Franklin Planner I received as a gift showed me the power of organization, and when I discovered the Erin Condren Life Planner, I fell in love with decorating it using themed stickers.
Eventually, I tried bullet journaling, which let me tap into my creativity, but I found it too much of a commitment to keep up with regularly. That’s when I discovered Hobonichi planners, and I’ve been hooked ever since. These days, I use a Hobonichi Cousin as my main planner, a Hobonichi Weeks for on-the-go lists and scheduling, and a Hobonichi 5-Year Journal that I’m determined to stick with (this time!).
After spending more money than I care to admit on stickers, I decided to take matters into my own hands and learn how to use a Silhouette machine to create my own. That decision changed everything—I fell in love with the process of designing sticker kits with unique themes and color palettes. As a tech-forward person, I often use AI to brainstorm names, listing descriptions, and color schemes, blending that inspiration with my own illustrations to create something special.
As someone with late-diagnosed ADHD, I’ve come to realize that my lifelong obsession with planners was my way of managing symptoms and finding a system that worked for me. Now, designing stickers isn’t just an artistic outlet—it’s also a way to share tools that make planning more fun and effective, whether you’re neurodivergent like me or just someone who loves planners and pretty things.
Thanks for stopping by! Let’s make your planner so captivating, you’ll actually want to open it and tackle everything you’ve planned today.
xoxo
