Hand Crafted Specialty Wood Products

Announcement    I handcraft a variety of wood products, including hand turned (lathed) bowls, children's spinning tops, and other wood products made in my Denver Colorado wood shop. I specialize in turning bowls from Colorado Beetle Kill Pine, Aspen, and other woods.

Woodworking has been an interest and passion of mine starting in my childhood growing up on a Southern Idaho farm. It began in the basement of my childhood home with my Grandpa's drill press and Father's saws. While I enjoy most wood working that I do, I found my passion on the lathe, especially after discovering how to turn a wood bowl. The journey has been fun, and it’s enjoyable to see the artisan in me growing. I hope you enjoy my products as much as I enjoyed making them.

Colorado has had problems with Pine Beetle infestations which has decimated our mountain pine forests. The beetle kills the tree by lodging under the bark and releasing enzymes that are harmful to the tree, thus killing it, but leaving this beautiful blue streak pattern in the wood. All BK pine is green in that it is already dead and needs to be removed from the forest because it is a fire hazard. I'm glad I can help reduce this risk in our beautiful forests.

I make a selection of Fruit bowls, Salad bowls, Christmas holiday bowls, Birthday bowl, Anniversary gift, Candy bowls, Wedding gifts, Hanukkah gifts, Candy dishes, bowls for Knic knacks, Graduation gifts, Decorative bowls that are ornamental, and House warming gifts. Some creations are more ornate and attractive while others are very rustic and collectible. I like to be able to make things that catch the eye and are pretty, unique and exclusive. It is as if the wood tells me at times what to make and many times the one of a kind shape comes to me as I’m creating it on the lathe. Other times I have a beautiful and distinctive creation in my mind before I begin. Still others are shaped because the wood won’t let me shape it into what I had in mind, but a chunk might fly off and so changes it.

The end result is an assortment of rare, matchless, and exclusive containers that can hold everything from M&M’s, candy, knick knacks, and paper clips for your desk, fruit, food, candles and wax, push pins, car keys, cereal, and even liquid. I try to sign and date each one (on the bottom) and can also write a very small personal note if you wish. I know a little bit of Greek and Hebrew too, so I can write a word or two in those characters if you so desire. If you have a shape in mind that you can draw for me, I’m game to give it a try.

Oh, and thanks to my Nephew, Nick McMullin for creating my cool shop banner. He made a similar one that has these bowls as space ships, attacking the city of Denver. Its just the way his mind works.
