Change is inevitable, yet growth is optional.
I am currently loving life in Bangkok, Thailand working on a series of travel eBooks that will (hopefully) lead to the publishing of a travel novel that I have been slowly re-writing. Unfortunately, I do not have a jewelry studio at the moment, so I cannot accept any jewelry commissions, however, the few finished jewelry items for sale have already been completed, packaged, and ready to ship from my parent's buffalo ranch in Kansas - thanks Mom.

Hello, my name is Scott David Plumlee and I started handcrafting original chain jewelry designs back in 1995, while living at the Appalachian Center for Crafts. You may know my jewelry style from the five book and three video educational series on handcrafting beaded chain jewelry, dozens of magazine articles and leading hundreds of instructional workshops nationwide. ABOUT PROCESS
Chain Maille is an ancient technique used in the middle ages to link individual rings into wearable garments to serve as body armor protection. Today, chain making is typically used to create beautiful earrings, bracelets, and pendant designs that are uniquely strong yet flexible. I handcraft each chain design from scratch, starting with round metal wire that is wrapped onto a mandrel into a long coil. Each coil is then saw-cut into individual rings, which are then assembled with simple hand tools into a variety of chain patterns. The finished chain is then chemically cleaned, polished in a rotary tumbler, oven dried, and then hand-polished with a specialized tarnish-preventive Renaissance wax.
ABOUT MATERIALS
I use a variety of round metal wires; including copper, brass, silver-filled, sterling silver, and 14k gold-filled. I specifically use Argentium sterling silver wire to handcraft the shepherd’s hook earring backs, as many people with metal allergies can wear this advanced version of sterling silver. I employ a variety of semi-precious gemstone beads that are the best quality by color and clarity. Note that there may be a slight color variation in the gemstones you receive from those shown, due to the nature of using natural stones.
ABOUT COMMISSIONS
I am currently not accepting any jewelry commission requests, as I do not have a jewelry studio at the moment because I am in Bangkok working on a novel. However, if you can review my past artwork at: www.davidchain.com/commission.html.
