In the early days of my Etsy shop, I was exclusively creating custom, one-of-a kind house portraits - which are still offered today. During that time, a passion for drawing and a love of architecture inspired my craft, but so too did the women in my lineage.

I came from a long line of artistic women who made their houses into home through their passion for creativity. My mother fills her home with music through her piano practice. My maternal grandmother is a prolific crafter, with projects ranging from rugmaking, to crochet, to quilting, and clay. My paternal grandmother's gardening and floral arrangements were divine. A walk through her garden was like stepping into a lifestyle magazine. For me, this love for creativity is equal parts nurture and nature. It is through this lens that I see and process the world around me.

The new series of travel inspired artwork was born out of the COVID pandemic. After moving from Oklahoma to the St. Louis area in late 2020, I was feeling a bit stir crazy, with a desire to both explore my new city, and a longing to visit family and friends in other parts of the US. With safety in mind, instead of taking to the road, I began to draw.

I decided to “explore” my new city through art, first creating a piece with St. Louis’s iconic landmarks as the focus, learning and familiarizing myself with the area as I researched and drew. It was a natural progression from my house portraits, with architecture being the thread of continuity from one to the next. From there, I drew Kansas City, my hometown, where many of my friends still reside, the next best thing to actually visiting. Finally, I “revisited” the city I just left, Oklahoma City, a nod to the people and places I already missed.

These pieces marked a new creative chapter. In 2022, I decided to make travel themed art the heart of my focus, creating prints and stickers based on cities and subjects from my state and the surrounding region. This body of work will continue to develop and grow, I'll be adding new city, state, and trail themed artwork along the way.
