DEAR MAL was born from a personal practice of self-connection.

In 2019, after graduating college and navigating a period of depression, I began writing letters to myself. What started as a way to cope became something deeper. Through those letters, I was learning how to speak to myself with care, acknowledge my growth, and rebuild my sense of self.

At the time, I didn’t fully realize it, but I was emotionally regulating myself in the same way a parent nurtures a child. I was creating safety within, reminding myself that I was worthy, supported, and capable.

That practice never left me.

In 2024, after losing my job and moving through another season of uncertainty, I felt called to bring that same sense of comfort and grounding into something tangible. DEAR MAL was created as a reflection of that journey.

Each piece is designed to feel like a warm hug. Oversized, cozy, and intentional, with words that encourage you to return to yourself, regulate your emotions, and move through life with care.

The name DEAR MAL stands for “Dear Master of Authentic Living”, a reminder to address yourself with compassion and honor your own path.

Inspired by nature and grounding, the colors and textures reflect a return to center, to stillness, and back home to self.
