Art is everywhere - art is wearable
Hi! my name is Deedee. As a child my favorite class was puppetry, where I discovered the art of playful creation. In college I studied Visual Arts , and found myself drawn to projects using wearable art , exploring different fabrics, materials, and movement along with the drama that they can create.
After college I hosted an "Urban Jungle" Costume Party for the Purim Holiday (Purim in Israel is similar to Halloween in Tel Aviv. ) I made 16 animal costumes for friends, just for the fun of it. The enthusiasm and excitement over the animals was electrifying! I realized that the process of choosing, wearing and prancing around as an animal is more than a holiday celebration, it is extremely therapeutic! And this is when I decided to make my line of animal and forest creature costumes. I have been selling Dee Dee Design costumes in Tel Aviv for the past five years before the Purim Holiday and before the Midburn festival (Yes, we have an Israeli version of Burning Man. )
My costumes are mostly for grown-up kids, with the concept that adults who dress up need their costumes to be cozy ,comfortable , wearable and practical. Most of my creatures have pockets ! My costumes are visual artsy for the element of personal expression- No Masks.... Total Expression.
