A bit more about me
I moved to Canada in my early twenties, currently working as a full-time artist sharing my life (and studio) with two chocolate Labradors, two cats and a Macaw, creating everyday and teaching private workshops from my studio.
I have been painting and drawing basically all my life, with artwork featured in International books, juried art shows and contests, with paintings in private collections worldwide.
Some of my artwork have been included in the North Light Books’ "Incite 2 Color Passions: The Best Of Mixed Media!" to be published Sep.2014 and "Best of Watercolor: Splash 14: Light and Color!" published in July/ 2013.
This collection showcases only my raven's paintings.
I will be opening a second shop with my other smaller work, mainly mixed media abstracts, collages and some still life.
My larger work is been represented at the moment in two Ontario galleries.
My process:
All my wood or canvas supports are primed with two coats of Golden GAC 100 to protect the painting and the support from future discoloration. Then three coats of gesso with sanding in between leave the support ready for any type of paint, acrylics or oils.
I am not a purist when it comes to my choice of paints and supports. I love to mix whatever mediums I need to bring the painting together, to capture the essence, the emotion, the spirit of the moment.
Depending on the painting I will use all or any of the following mediums: acrylics, venetian plaster, marble dust, dry pigments, collage, sand, oils and cold wax medium.
My paintings take quite a while to complete since they are quite texturized and have quite a few layers of paint and mediums, with sanding, scraping and scratching back paint.
Acrylic paintings have a top coat of cold wax for protection, which after a few weeks of curing, are polished to a satin sheen.
Oils are mixed with the wax medium, so after the curing process I only need to buff them.
