Creativity Through Technical Skills - How I got to where I am today...............
About me
I have always been interested in making clothes, since I was a child watching my Mum do it.
I graduated from the London College of Fashion and worked in London, Copenhagen as well as spending some time in Paris. Then I had dreams of my own business so went back home to the Riviera…the Welsh Riviera…my home town of Llandudno!
My business was mostly freelance consultancy; I worked with some major clothing manufacturers as well as a number of well-known high street retailers….I also managed to complete teacher training as well as starting a family!
I started working part time in the college as Lecturer in Fashion & Technology. I was still running my consultancy business but I eventually moved to full time at the college and slowed down on the consultancy.
After 8 years working in the college I really wanted to further my own qualifications so this led me to Manchester Metropolitan University where I gained an MSc in Clothing – Advanced Manufacturer…they also offered me a job in the Clothing Department as Senior Lecturer. I stayed at MMU for 13 years and still do some associate lecturing there part time.
Last year I decided to move out of education full time and begin to set up my own business, I wanted to supply small businesses and new designers and dress makers with basic, high quality, blocks.
This is a passion for me and I would love to share my journey with you, if you subscribe to my newsletter, or follow me on Facebook or twitter, I can promise to keep you up to date with all my developments in the future.
