For as long as I can remember I've wanted to be a seamstress.
I received my first sewing machine, a toy, from my Grandpa when I was only 5 or 6. From that moment I was hooked. While in high school I took every course offered within Home Economics in order to gain as much knowledge as possible. Over the years I gained many more skills in this area. When my children were very young (we have 5!) I made an attempt with a small seamstress business but I found it very difficult to balance both my family and sewing. Over the next few years I was only able to sew sporadically until 3 of our daughters took up figure skating and I began making many of their dresses. Last fall our youngest daughter went to college leaving me with a very empty nest. It was then, with the support of my wonderful husband and family, that I made the decision to begin my new venture, "Captivating Design by Sandee". I renovated a room in our home and it became my beautiful sewing room which I absolutely love. My 8 grandchildren have inspired many of my creations. I love to make things that make us feel cozy and loved. My portfolio includes items such as: wedding dresses and variety of other formal wear, skating dresses and accessories, curtains, cushions, rag quilts and other blankets, baby clothing and accessories, aprons, linens, personal care items and other household items. I hope you find something in my shop that you like! Custom orders are always welcome!
