The marvellous beginning...
Sometime during my first year of fashion school in 2012, I decided I was definitely 100% most certainly going to start my own label instead of trying to get a job in the city. I thought "Hey if I do this, nobody can get mad at me for showing up late or forgetting something!"
In June 2012 Desvalido was born. I was still a student, & had no idea what I was doing besides making the occasional custom dress, & of course doing everyones alterations for half the normal price (oh the life of a sewer!). I registered the name, made everything official, then created a Facebook page. For the first year & a half I was simply uploading photos of my fashion school projects, & a few creations on the side.
It was around mid 2013 I decided lingerie was definitely my thing. I created my first lingerie collection called My Alter Ego, as my final fashion school project.
In December 2013, I graduated with a Diploma in Applied Fashion Design & Technology. I moved out of home & set up a studio office in a spare bedroom, which is where all the magic happens! From designing to pattern making to cutting fabric to sewing, packing orders, then sending them out to the best customers in the world (thank you for the support by the way!).
& the best part is that it's always pyjama day in the office!
