5 out of 5 starsThis is an outstanding tutorial. Very precisely and comprehensibly explained, with many individual steps. Also great that it contains so many detail photos. I coped better with it than with a video tutorial. I have already bought a total of two of these tutorials.

5 out of 5 starsI absolutely love Paul's teaching technique. I am so glad I purchased the 1 year subscription. Paul not only teaches detail painting, but how to do under glazes, wet on wet, wet on dry, mixing colors and the list goes on. If you are just starting out or even a intermediate painter this online class has something for everyone. I started with Paul's freebee class first to see if I would like his teaching techniques, and I was hooked from the first class. Paul also has a wonderful Facebook page with like minded artist teaching and learning from each other from our practice paintings. Paul is also right there answering question and helping refine your technique. These classes exceeded my expectations. Carmella-A very happy student

Wildlife in Watercolour by Paul Hopkinson (AKA The Devon Artist)
I started painting from a young age. I've always had a passion for all types of art and love the feeling of completing something unique. My watercolour journey started in my early teens, I found my niche in my twenties and have painted wildlife ever since. This is something I love doing, and I am fortunate to be able to work on my art full time.
I teach others to love watercolour too via my online school. As such, I'm really excited to be able to teach my personal watercolour style and techniques to a whole new audience via the internet.
I love to capture the life within an animal's eye and strive to create a realistic piece of art with every subject I paint. New pieces will be listed as they are completed, so 'watch this space' as they say!
I'm a keen wildlife enthusiast, I maintain a number of bird boxes around my local area of Devon and actively participate in the monitoring of nests and weekly Garden Bird Watch for the British Trust for Ornithology (BTO).

A bit about me - Paul Hopkinson, also known as The Devon Artist
I started drawing when I was knee-high to a grasshopper, but didn’t pick up my first brush until the age of eleven. I now paint as a full time artist and have over 40 years of experience. Whilst I love every minute of my work, I could do with a few more painting hours each day!
I live in North Devon in the UK and spend many weekends out and about in the local countryside. So when I’m not painting wildlife, I like looking for and watching it in the natural environment.
When I am asked what would be my preferred subject, I would say without a doubt birds and animals! I love trying to get the life within the eyes in my finely detailed, realistic paintings.
I teach my style and techniques through written PDFs and online school membership (both available on Etsy!), YouTube and my website. Membership of my online school gives you access to the entire back catalogue of real time video tutorials. I create and edit videos of many of my painting projects, these are building into a substantial library of lessons.
I really do feel that I have found my niche, I absolutely love teaching others and love even more to see the progress people make as they work on the projects. My paint brushes are still very rarely dry, I am still painting, but I also spend a lot of time video editing!
