Accidental crafter!
I'm a left hander and have vague memories of my mum trying to teach 7 year old me to knit, then watching her get frustrated because she couldn't work out how to do it backwards - a frustration I fully understand having failed to pass on the skill to my right handed nieces and nephews!
I'm a big fan of Instagram and handmade crafts and kept seeing beautiful crocheted items that I wished I could make. So when I ended up laid up for several weeks after hip surgery, I decided I would teach myself a variation on the skill I failed to learn as a child. It turned out I loved it! Who knew a ball of wool and a hook could be such good therapy?
I have never looked back since picking up that first hook, little did I know I would discover a passion and a whole new world!
My thanks go out to YouTube and all the contributors to Ravelry who helped me learn the craft. Yarn lovers are a wonderful generous group of people who have come into my life in a quite unexpected way. Now I have my own blog and YouTube channel so I hope I can return the favour to someone I don’t know yet!
